What . . .27 May 2007

. . . I've been listening to:

  • Wilco, Sky Blue Sky

:: My friends hate it and Pitchfork called it lame "dad-rock." Maybe I'm a Tweedy apologist, but I can't get enough. Pretty pop that quotes mid-70s Dead, Neil Young and Crosby/Nash is alright with me.

  • The National, Boxer

:: Hasn't immediately blown me away like Alligator, but it's growing on me.

  • The Sea and Cake, Everybody

:: Same old same old, thank god.

  • THiNG-ONE, Demos

:: We just added these guys to The Periodic Label. Kamara said it best: "Finally a dance band that's doing something interesting."

. . . I've been reading:

  • Ask the Dust, by John Fante

:: Bukowski's favorite writer. Charlie took Fante's style and cranked up the misanthropy and misogyny to 11.

. . . I've been watching:

  • The Lost season finale totally delivered. I've spent every spare minute on Lost Theories trying to figure out whose funeral it was.
